Sake Tasting Workshop

Join us for a night of Hanami-inspired delights as we celebrate the beauty of this Japanese tradition at @west_16th on Saturday, 23 March 2024.

Hanami, which literally translates to "flower watching," is an annual celebration of cherry blossoms and springtime. In modern-day Japan, hanami mostly consists of having a party beneath the cherry blossoms with good food, drinks, and great company, and we're excited to bring our own version to you.

“Drinks” will most often include some sake, a Japanese alcoholic beverage made from fermented rice. It consists of four ingredients: a special rice called sakamai, water, yeast, and a mould called koji. This process, along with the different yeasts and the varying quality and minerality of water around Japan, shapes the flavour profile of each sake. Learn more about the intricate flavours of Japan's finest brews with a sake tasting workshop led by Erika of @drinkmaisake.
